Each ball can carry one item. The game also calls items equipment. Each one has a tier, a resonance type, an attack number, a defense number and, on most items, an effect line. Some items add a requirement that limits which balls can wear them.

Tiers and the ✦ mark

Items come in four tiers, and the game draws one ✦ for each. Battle Shield is a ✦ item, Sandspire Crown is ✦✦✦, and Arachnid Claws and Shadowscript Brush sit at the top with ✦✦✦✦.

Items never get stars. Stars mark raid levels, so "3★" next to an item means the raid it drops in, not how good it is.

Higher tiers mostly mean bigger numbers. A typical ✦ item like Iron Sword has 750 attack and 150 defense. At ✦✦ Dustpiercer reaches 2,300 attack, and at ✦✦✦ Staff of Incandescence has 5,000. At ✦✦✦✦ the numbers jump: Shadowscript Brush has 8,000 and 8,000, Fractal Scarf 12,000 and 6,000, Cosmic Glacialis 15,000 and 2,000, and Crimson Reaver an even 9,999 on both.

The biggest numbers belong to the War Shop's Glorious Set. All four pieces are ✦✦✦✦ with Light resonance, and none of them has an effect.

  • Glorious Mace: 20,000 attack, 0 defense
  • Glorious Shield: 0 attack, 20,000 defense
  • Glorious Spear: 16,000 attack, 4,000 defense
  • Glorious Sword: 10,000 attack, 10,000 defense

Each costs 7,500 War Bonds plus 15,000 Glory. At the other end, a few items have 0 attack and 0 defense on purpose. A-2000 and Rainbow Crystal exist only for their effects.

Resonance

An item's resonance type is the type its own hit carries. Shadowscript Brush has Oil resonance, Arachnid Claws Shadow, and Staff of Incandescence Light. The resonance doesn't have to match the ball. A Water ball holding Staff of Incandescence still makes Light hits with the item, which lets one ball threaten two different sets of weaknesses. An item with no resonance type hits with the ball's own type.

Many effect lines are written around resonance. Blade of Eternal Radiance reads "Resonance deals 10x damage to Bosses", Emeraldshot Bow reads "Resonance hits all Mymics", and Twinpoint Spear reads "Resonance hits twice".

Requirements

A requirement decides who can wear the item. The common kinds are:

  • Type: Sharkbite is "Water Type only", Commander's Cap is "Shadow or Metal Type only", and Astral Scythe is "Any Type except Shadow".
  • Rarity: Cannon Fodder is "Epic Rarity or lower", Rainbow Crystal "Rare only" and Ballenin Medal "Common Rarity only".
  • CP: Amphibious staff needs "4,000 CP or higher", and Shrimp's SwordStaff "8000 CP or higher".

In PvP and alliance wars

PvP and war attacks are round-based duels, and there an item counts only through its two numbers.

  • Attack powers the Weapon move. Weapon hits with the item's resonance type, has two charges a duel that never come back, and goes through a Block for half damage. Item attack matters a lot up to about 4,000 and adds very little past that. The ball's Soft Power raises Weapon hits too, but only when it holds an item.
  • Defense adds to the ball's Protection, a shield that takes damage before HP does. A ball gets half the item's defense, scaled up or down by its Economy stat, and Protection is capped at 60% of the ball's max HP.

Item effects do nothing in duels. Execute, double damage, unexhaust, Poison and every other effect line work only in raids.

Before October 2026, PvP and wars were decided in a single hit, and an item added a bonus to the ball's effective CP instead. The two PvP systems explains the change.

In raids

Raids are where effects count. The item's attack adds to each hit, typed by its resonance, and its effect line applies. Some examples:

  • Unexhaust: Sandspire Crown reads "On hit: Unexhaust 2 random Polbies (once per floor)".
  • Extra damage: Blade of Eternal Radiance reads "Resonance deals 10x damage to Bosses".
  • Statuses: Staff of Incandescence reads "On hit: Apply Blinded, Starstruck and Unbalanced".

Item effects explains the trigger words, and Status effects has the exact text of each status.

Getting items

  • Raid drops, with one chance per Mymic kill for each raider. Most items have exactly one Mymic that drops them. See Drops and drop rates.
  • Crafting, from recipes that combine ingredients with Scrap Sand and Aether Dust. See Crafting and materials.
  • The Recipe Shop, which sells recipes for Aether Dust.
  • The War Shop, paid for with War Bonds from alliance wars. The Glorious Set also costs Glory.
  • Solo dungeon clear rewards, such as Toy Rocketship from solo dungeon 3.

A handful of items, including Lucky Penguin, Sakura Katana and Polar Slushie, have no confirmed source yet.

Moving items

Taking an item off a ball costs Aether Dust. Removing Sandspire Crown once cost 1,000 Aether Dust; the cost for other items and tiers hasn't been confirmed. Items never travel in a trade, so unequip anything you want to keep before trading a ball away. See Trades and friends.

On polbielytics

Items lists every item with its tier, numbers, resonance and requirement. Each item has its own page, like Shadowscript Brush, with the Mymic that drops it.
