Version 1: Sets and Recruit pools

Oct 26, 2026

Changes from the page now

Summary
Sets are the themed banners you recruit from. How a set's pool works, the odds by rarity, why small sets give better odds at any one ball, and how the Dex groups balls. Sets are the Recruit banners balls come from. Each set has a pool with odds per ball, and a ball can be in more than one set.
  1. Removed: New balls come from **Recruit**, where each pull costs 1,000 Clay and draws one ball from a **set**. A set is a themed banner: Polbies Classics for the core countries, Drums of Africa for African states and empires, Trick or Treat for Halloween forms, Ballsnar New Year for New Year forms like Firecracker China and Paper Dragon Russia. How many sets are open at once changes; as of late October 2026 there were eight. Polbies Classics is always open, and event sets run for a limited time before closing, then come back later as re-runs.
  2. Added: New balls come from **Recruit**, where you spend Clay to pull from a set. Each set is a themed banner, like Polbies Classics, Drums of Africa or Trick or Treat. A few are open at a time, and sets come back for re-runs.

  6. ## The pool
  7.
  8. Removed: Each set has a **Pool & Rates** screen in Recruit that lists every ball and form you can get from it, grouped by rarity, with the odds for each one. The pool is the real answer to "which set is this ball in": a ball is in a set when that set's pool lists it.
  9. Removed:
  10. Removed: The same ball can sit in several pools. Malta, Niger and Vatican City are each in five, and Switzerland, Japan and Morocco in four. A pool can hold a ball's base form, one or more of its forms, or both.
  11. Removed:
  12. Removed: ## Odds by rarity
  13. Removed:
  14. Removed: Every set splits a pull the same way by rarity. The pools the game showed in October 2026 gave:
  15. Removed:
  16. Removed: - **Common:** 50.5%
  17. Removed: - **Uncommon:** 31.5%
  18. Removed: - **Rare:** 13.7%
  19. Removed: - **Epic:** 3.4%
  20. Removed: - **Legendary:** 0.85%
  21. Removed: - **Mythical:** 0.05%
  22. Removed:
  23. Removed: Within a rarity, that share is split evenly between the balls of that rarity in the pool. A Mythical is one pull in 2,000 on average, about 2,000,000 Clay.
  24. Removed:
  25. Removed: ## Why set size matters
  26. Removed:
  27. Removed: Because each rarity's share is split evenly, the fewer balls of a rarity a set holds, the better your odds at any single one of them.
  28. Removed:
  29. Removed: Polbies Classics has 200 balls, four of them Mythical: Fourth Reich, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Sealand and the United Nations. Each of the four shows 0.01%. Trick or Treat has only two Mythicals, Haunted House Fourth Reich and Vampire Romania, so each shows 0.03%. Legacy of Joseon, with 34 balls, shows each of its eleven Commons at 4.6%, where Polbies Classics, with 74 Commons, shows each at 0.68%.
  30. Added: Each set has a **Pool** screen in Recruit. It lists every ball and form you can get from that set, grouped by rarity, with the game's odds for each one. Mythicals have the lowest odds. In Trick or Treat, for example, each Mythical form was listed at 0.03%.
  31.
  32. Removed: So when the ball you want sits in more than one pool, the set with the fewest balls of its rarity is the best place to pull for it. Switzerland, for example, is in Polbies Classics, Heirs of the Caliphate, Lords of the Holy Age and Legacy of Joseon.
  33. Added: The pool is the real answer to "which set is this ball in". A ball is in a set if that set's pool lists it. The same ball can be in several sets, and a set can hold a ball's base form, one of its forms, or both.

  81. ## Forms in sets
  82.
  83. Removed: Seasonal sets are mostly forms. Trick or Treat's 125 entries include six forms of Poland alone, from Pumpkin Head Poland and Corrupted Poland (Common) to Forefathers' Eve Poland (Legendary), plus new balls such as Sleepy Hollow and Wallachia. Its two Mythicals are both forms.
  84. Removed:
  85. Removed: A form can sit at a different rarity from its base ball. China is Legendary, but its forms are spread across sets at every rarity: Jiangshi China is a Common in Trick or Treat, Lilypad China a Rare in Summer Splash, and Firecracker China a Legendary in Ballsnar New Year. Every form keeps its base ball's five country stats. See [Balls, forms and rarity](wiki:balls-forms-and-rarity).
  86. Removed:
  87. Removed: Some forms aren't in any pool, and come from events and other rewards instead.
  88. Removed:
  89. Removed: ## Sets in the Dex
  90. Added: Seasonal sets are full of forms. Trick or Treat holds Halloween forms like Pumpkin Head Poland, Vampire Romania and Haunted House Fourth Reich. A form can have a different typing and rarity from its base ball, but it keeps the base ball's five stats.
  91.
  92. Removed: The Dex groups balls into sets too, one card per set with a progress bar, but it counts each ball under the set it **first appeared** in. That's why its numbers are much smaller than the pools. The Dex's Trick or Treat card holds 14 balls, mostly new balls like Prague, Leinster and Sleepy Hollow, while the Trick or Treat pool holds 125. Legacy of Joseon shows 10 in the Dex and 34 in its pool.
  93. Added: Some forms aren't in any Recruit set. Event rewards and other sources hand out forms of their own.
  94.
  95. Removed: The Dex also has cards for sets with no open pool in October 2026, such as Ballsmas Bash, A World at War, Countryballs World Cup and Special Units, the last holding Earth, Listenbourg and Beach Ball.
  96. Added: ## Pulls and Clay
  97.
  98. Removed: Each copy you own remembers where it came from. A ball's details screen shows its source, such as "Source: Trick or Treat".
  99. Added: A Recruit pull costs 1,000 Clay. Clay comes from daily quests, deposits on the map and rewards.
  100.
  101. Removed: ## Trading for a ball
  102. Added: ## Trading
  103.
  104. Removed: If a pool won't give you the ball you want, a friend can. Trades swap two balls of the same rarity, cost Scrap Sand on both sides, and reset both to the lower level and prestige of the two. A ball you got in a trade fills its Dex entry if it's new to you, but gives no Dex XP. Mythicals can't be traded. See [Trades and friends](wiki:trades-and-friends).
  105. Added: A ball you pulled can be traded with a friend if it isn't Mythical. A ball you got in a trade adds its Dex entry if it's new to you, but gives no Dex XP. See [Getting started](wiki:getting-started).

This version

New balls come from Recruit, where you spend Clay to pull from a set. Each set is a themed banner, like Polbies Classics, Drums of Africa or Trick or Treat. A few are open at a time, and sets come back for re-runs.

The pool

Each set has a Pool screen in Recruit. It lists every ball and form you can get from that set, grouped by rarity, with the game's odds for each one. Mythicals have the lowest odds. In Trick or Treat, for example, each Mythical form was listed at 0.03%.

The pool is the real answer to "which set is this ball in". A ball is in a set if that set's pool lists it. The same ball can be in several sets, and a set can hold a ball's base form, one of its forms, or both.

Sets in the game

These are the sets whose pools the game lists:

  • Polbies Classics
  • Legacy of Joseon
  • Sword and Sickle
  • Empires at War
  • Lords of the Holy Age
  • Mandate of Heaven
  • Liberty or Death
  • Heirs of the Caliphate
  • Crossing the Rubicon
  • The New World
  • Crown and Cross
  • Silk and Steel
  • The Grande Armée
  • Summer Splash
  • Drums of Africa
  • Trick or Treat
  • Ballsnar New Year

A set's pool can change. Balls are sometimes added to a running set: French Colonial Empire and others joined Drums of Africa two weeks after it opened.

Forms in sets

Seasonal sets are full of forms. Trick or Treat holds Halloween forms like Pumpkin Head Poland, Vampire Romania and Haunted House Fourth Reich. A form can have a different typing and rarity from its base ball, but it keeps the base ball's five stats.

Some forms aren't in any Recruit set. Event rewards and other sources hand out forms of their own.

Pulls and Clay

A Recruit pull costs 1,000 Clay. Clay comes from daily quests, deposits on the map and rewards.

Trading

A ball you pulled can be traded with a friend if it isn't Mythical. A ball you got in a trade adds its Dex entry if it's new to you, but gives no Dex XP. See Getting started.

On polbielytics

Each ball's page lists the sets it's in, with the pool's odds. The Polbies Dex can be filtered by set, so you can see which balls of a set you still need.
