How PvP Duels work in Polandball Go
PvP changed on October 1. Battles now play out over rounds, with both sides choosing a move each time. The choices are in your lineup and move timing; the arena is random.
What changed on October 1
Patch 4.3.3 replaced one-hit PvP battles with round-based duels. Each side brings 5 balls, and the first side to KO 3 wins. If neither side gets there after 24 rounds, whoever has more HP left wins.
The four moves
Attack
Attack is your ball's normal hit. If both sides Attack, the faster ball goes first.
Block
Block stops an Attack and gives your ball Momentum. Its next Attack goes first, but you can't Block twice in a row.
Swap
Swap brings another ball into the fight. The ball that comes in can't Swap right away, so a Swap also commits it for the next round.
Weapon
Weapon uses the equipped item's attack and resonance type. It has limited charges that don't come back, and it goes through a Block for half damage.

- 3Attacks
- 4Weapon attacks
Stats now matter
A ball's five country stats now feed into the duel:
- MilitaryAttackMilitary raises Attack, so its normal hit is stronger.
- PopulationHPPopulation raises HP, letting it take more damage before a KO.
- EconomyProtectionEconomy raises Protection, a shield that takes damage before HP.
- DiplomacySpeedDiplomacy raises Speed. Speed decides who goes first when both sides Attack and neither has Momentum.
- Soft PowerWeapon damageSoft Power raises the damage added by its equipped item when it uses Weapon.
Types, orbs and arenas
Type matchups still raise or lower damage. Attack and defense orb tiers decide how large the boost or resistance is. The type matchups guide has the chart and the orb numbers.
The arena is picked at random and revealed when the duel loads. Each arena boosts certain types, including a Weapon with a matching resonance. You can prepare for several arenas, but picking one isn't a strategic choice because you never get to choose it.
What the numbers say so far
These figures are measured from real Open League duels in this patch, not taken from the rules. So far, 81% end by KO, 17% reach the round limit and 2% end in a forfeit. A duel lasts 17.4 rounds on average.
Attackers win 71% overall. That edge fades in longer fights: attackers win 87% of duels ending in rounds 9–12, then 58% of those ending in rounds 21–24. At the round limit, attackers win 52%, which is close to a coin flip.
Practical tips
These are tips from the rules and the results above, not promises:
- Build a defense that can last. Round-limit duels are close to a coin flip, so a defender that survives deep into the fight still has a chance.
- Save Weapon charges for a round when you think the other side will Block. You still deal half damage instead of losing the hit.
- Don't Block twice in a row. The game won't let you, so plan the move after your Block too.
- Swap out of a bad type matchup. The incoming ball takes that round's hit, and it can't Swap right back out.
- Lead with your fastest ball if you want the first hit when both sides Attack.
Alliance wars are different
Alliance war attacks did not move to round-based duels. An attack is a series of 5 one-hit matches, fought slot by slot. Effective CP decides each match: ball CP plus the item bonus, with the type boost or resistance applied.
You must KO all 5 defenders to take a zone. A 3–2 result is still a loss. Each ball attacks once, and defenders can't attack. The alliance wars guide covers the rest of the board and scoring rules.
